Campus Undergraduate Teaching Award
(formerly Luckman, '96; UIUC Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award in Anthropology '95 and prior)
This award is selected by the undergraduates. Faculty and Teaching Assistants are nominated by ballot for their outstanding teaching in a particular course. The undergraduates who nominate can only vote for a particular instructor from a previous semester, not the one that they are currently enrolled. Usually a certificate is awarded to the winners. The department forwards nominations including any supporting letters to the Campus Undergraduate Teaching Award committee.

Helen Corley Petit
The late Mrs. Helen Corley Petit, an alumna of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, provided an endowment for the development of the scholarship and teaching of young faculty members in the college. The Helen Corley Petit Professorship is awarded to one faculty member each year at the time of their promotion to associate professor. This distinction, established in 1991, consists of the title, which may be used for the following academic year, and an allowance of $10,000 in unrestricted support for research and teaching. It is an extraordinary achievement that faculty from the Department of Anthropology have received this award over four consecutive
years:

- 2000 Brenda Farnell
