1993 Peru               Experimental field study of spatial memory and perceptual cues in primate foraging behavior (moustached tamarins, Saguinus mystax) in northeastern Peru.

 

1992 Florida           A preliminary study of cognition, spatial memory, and decision-making in nonhuman primates.  This project is a colaborate effort  between the University of Illinois, the University of Miami, and the  DuMond Conservancy and is designed to examine mental  complexity and the kinds of information different species of primates use in making foraging decisions. 

 

1990 Peru               Field research project in  Amazonian Peru on the behavior and ecology of  moustached tamarin monkeys.  This first  phase of the      research                 project involved collecting  blood from all members of 15  tamarin groups in order to conduct genetic fingerprinting analysis to determine relatedness and individual genealogies.  These data will be used to determine the importance of kinship in primate social interactions and an understanding of  the evolution of cooperation and male infant care giving behavior.

 

1988 Panama         3 month field investigation of steroid hormone levels and reproductive behavior in dominant  and subordinate female tamarin monkeys (Saguinus geoffroyi).

 

1987 Panama         1 month preliminary field investigation of the ecology and group composition of tamarins (Saguinus geoffroyi) and cebus monkeys (Cebus capucinus) on the Atlantic Coast of Panama.   

 

1984 Peru               12 month field investigation of diet, nutrition and reproductive strategies ofmoustached (Saguinus mystax) and saddle-back  (Saguinus fuscicollis) tamarin monkeys in theAmazon Basin of northeastern Peru. 

 

1981 Peru               3 month field study of ranging patterns, dietand positional behavior in moustached tamarin monkeys (Saguinus mystax).
               

1978 Panama         9 month field study of positional behavior,  substrate preference and feeding ecology of the Panamanian tamarin (Saguinus oedipus geoffroyi) in a dry tropical forest on the Pacific Coast of Panama.
